Biography
Katie grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and received her B. S. in chemistry at Colorado State University. She worked with Professor Garret Miyake on organocatalyzed-atom transfer radical polymerization. She also pursued a post-baccalaureate internship at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado for a year working with Dr. Gregg Beckham on lignin derived bio-advantaged materials. As the first student in the Cooper group, Katie is excited to enter the field of mechanochemistry and post polymerization modifications. Outside of the lab Katie likes to hang out with her cat, run, and complete reasonably sized puzzles.
